Francistown, said to be the oldest urban settlement in Botswana, is the second largest urban centre. The main reason to visit Francistown would be for its location, as well as being the gateway to the north with main roads to Gaborone, Zimbabwe, Main and Kazungula passing through it, there is easy access to the Okavango delta, Moremi Game Reserve and the Chobe National Park.Francistown itself has undergone near enough total regeneration in recent years and the frontier town atmosphere of the past has almost disappeared. A wide range of good restaurants, shopping malls, a cinema, night clubs, a couple of excellent hotels, one of the largest referral hospitals in Botswana, sports facilities, numerous well-kept parks and colourful markets are now all in place.
