Air Botswana launches Lusaka route

Air Botswana launched its Gaborone-Lusaka direct flight on Sunday 1st August 2010, adding the third cross border destination in the region.  Before the Lusaka connection, Air Botswana operated direct flights to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Harare, Zimbabwe.

Air Botswana“We have done our research and established that this is a viable route. With the launch of the direct flights, including the one via Kasane, business between the Botswana and Zambia countries will grow,”said business development manager Dikagiso Matshaba.  He revealed that after the Lusaka link, “we shall be targeting Luanda (Angola) next”.

Air Botswana will fly to Zambia four times a week. The flights are from Gaborone to Lusaka and Lusaka-Kasane. The Gaborone-Lusaka direct flight will be on Friday and Sunday, starting from Gaborone at 1100, arriving Lusaka at 1300. Departure from Lusaka will be from 1400, arriving at Gaborone at 1600.  The Gaborone-Kasane-Lusaka flights (and vice versa) are on Monday and Wednesday.

The Gaborone-Lusaka cruise is a smooth two-hour flight with superb catering services by the ever smiling Air Botswana air hostesses and crew. Passengers and Zambians in particular, welcomed the introduction of flights between Botswana and Zambia as the move will help expatriates and tourists from Botswana who presently travel through Johannesburg in order to fly to various destinations in Zambia.
